It’s getting closer to September, which means that it’s almost time for the Macmillan Coffee morning at Dock.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is an annual event which happens all over the UK in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This year, in conjunction with everyone at Dock, we are hosting another Macmillan Coffee Morning on September the 25th.
We’ll take any opportunity to do our bit for charity and get involved, and Macmillan’s Coffee Morning is the perfect way for us to help those in the local community. The coffee morning ties together two of our favourite things, coffee and cake, in order to raise money for a great cause, and have lots of fun at the same time.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of Britain’s largest charities, they provide specialist healthcare, information and financial support to people who have been affected by cancer. One of the main things Macmillan does is provide practical, medical, financial and emotional support for cancer-sufferers and their families.
Macmillan’s work makes it so that people who have been affected by the illness have somewhere to go to with any questions, or to discuss their feelings. People affected by these feelings and questions often feel as though there is nowhere for them to go or anyone to help, and Macmillan provides this through funding of cancer support centres and cancer health specialists.
They have been holding ‘The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ since 1990, with people all over the UK hosting their own. There are just over 2000 public coffee mornings to get involved in throughout the country, so it’s likely you’ll be able to find one near to your location regardless of where it is
Last year we raised £261.00 for Macmillan, and we are hoping that we can better that this year with a goal of £800.
Any treats brought in for the Coffee Morning will be separated into the following categories so that they can be judged for a competition:
The event will be held at Dock on the 25th of September 2015, we look forward to seeing what creations everyone at Dock makes for the competition, and hopefully smashing our fundraising target!

PHP North West has always been one of our favourite events, for some of us it was our first conference, and has held a special place ever since. This year the team went along to PHPNW17 to learn, mingle, and get to know more of the development community that we love so much.
Read more about PHPNW 2017 - The End of an EraI would like to start off by saying that all of the staff at VI were all incredibly friendly and would help answer any question I had to the best of their ability. Going into the work experience I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I did however know what I wanted to get from it - which was to see actual software development on a professional level.
